Heem
HEEM series are interventions on living trees and on barks of cut wood. The intervention involves plastering and sanding the bark
to approximately 1 to 3 mm to a smooth white and woody surface that displays the growth pattern of the tree. Sealed with waterborne,
environment friendly lacquer, this doesn’t affect the health of the particular tree.
Perhaps even to the contrary, the tree could benefit from the gypsum and lime as fertilizers and the vibration of the sanding machine
while working on the bark could stimulate the tree's water flow like a massage.
The white surface could also help to keep the cambium cool in summer by reflecting sunlight.
Based on Vitruv's original hut, Casa Romuli and his theory of the origin of architecture, as living sculpture.
